Abstract
The protection of Foreign Investment –A new European policy? This article is based on the presentation “The Protectionof Foreign Investment by the European Union” given at the Conference “Globalization’s Dilemmas” held in Lisbon (on 21 April 2016, in the Science Academy) organized by the Portuguese Association for European Studies (APEE) and the Science Academy. The changes introduced by the Treaty of Lisbon concerning the scope of the common commercial policy by the inclusion of a reference to foreign direct investment (article 207 Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU)), claim for the analysis ofthe newly shaped Foreign Investment Law by the European Union.
