Abstract
The idea of "automation" has existed for many years. Companies have developed automated systems of their own to control alarms, sensors, actuators and video cameras hence creating the automated buildings. These systems could not be easily installed as they require extensive changes to the existing electrical wiring of the home. The objective of this project is to design a home automation system that is flexible in terms of architecture and networking and also incorporating some intelligent features. In this proposed system user can communicate with the main controller via GSM, which further coordinates communication between the room controllers via ZigBee link. The system will be implemented on hardware with LEDs indicating the status of the devices in the room.
